Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Elizabeth/Lizzie Bannerman McKay was born about 1855. She married Robert Phair, a grocer and carrier, in 1884 - they had six children.

When she signed the suffrage petition Elizabeth was living with her family in High St, Dunedin. They later moved to Macandrew Bay where Elizabeth died on 9 April 1927. Robert died in the Dunedin Hospital the following day.

They are both buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
