The 1893 electoral roll confirms Louisa Mary

Mary Louisa was the daughter of William Bernardus Retemeyer and Sarah Jane Stantiall; she was born in Rangitikei on the 11th of February 1872. She was the youngest child of William and Sarah Retemeyer, her mother died on the 14th of August 1873.

In February 1891 Mary Louisa Retemeyer was confirmed at the St John’s Church in Feilding.

Mary Louisa’s stepmother Emily K Retemeyer also signed sheet 508 and her future mother-in-law Emma J Knowles signed sheet 509.

On the 20th of December 1893 at St John’s Church, Feilding; Mary Louisa married Henry Walter Knowles, he was the eldest son of Henry Hamilton and Emma Jane Knowles of Makino. The wedding was reported as quiet, Mary Louisa was given away by her father and was attended by seven bridesmaids. She was described as looking very nice in cream nuns veiling, trimmed with cream silk with hat to match. After the ceremony the bridal party adjourned to the residence of her parents, before the newlyweds took the evening train to Palmerston.

Henry Walter Knowles died in 1936 and Mary Louisa Knowles died in 1945.
