Isabella Brown was born about 1827 in Banff, Scotland – the daughter of George Brown, a sawyer, and Isabella Elder.
She emigrated to Otago in 1850 with her family on the Eden and they settled in the Tokomairiro area south of Dunedin.
She married Mark Scott, a farmer, on 27 March 1862 and they had four children.
When Isabella signed the suffrage petition they were living at their home 'Hopefield'near Milton.
Mark died there in 1898 and Isabella died on 25 September 1913, they are both buried in the Milton – Fairfax Cemetery.
