Elizabeth was born in 1863 in South Otago – the daughter of Robert Sutherland, a farmer, & Elizabeth Ross. (See 106 E Sutherland)
When Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition she was living with her parents on the family farm at Waitapeka in South Otago.
She died at her home on 22 June 1899 and is buried in the family grave in the Warepa Cemetery.
