Catherine was born about 1844 in Glasgow, Scotland. She emigrated to New Zealand about 1863 and she married Henry Robert Turner in 1868.

They had one daughter in 1870 (See 65 Eliza Turner) and the family lived in Waimate and Timaru before moving to Dunedin in the early 1880s.

When Catherine signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Cutten St, South Dunedin and Henry was working as a confectioner.

Catherine died at her home on 23 September 1894, she is buried in the Southern Cemetery with her daughter’s husband.

Henry appears to have moved to Christchurch and re-married, he died in 1920.
