Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Jane was born about 1847 and was married to Isaac Walker, a carpenter.

They were living in Lawrence in Central Otago by 1869 and had six children.

In 1882 they had their house for sale and the following year Isaac filed for bankruptcy.

The family stayed in Lawrence until the early 1890s when they moved to Dunedin.

When Jane signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Jones St, South Dunedin (now Calder St).

Sometime after this Jane and Isaac separated. He died in 1901 when the small hut he was living in caught fire.

Jane died on 8 June 1912, she is buried with Isaac in the Southern Cemetery.
