Mary Walsh was born about 1837 in Kilkenny, Ireland.
She married Robert Wall about 1854 and they had 12 children.
In 1874 the family emigrated to Otago on the Otago and they settled in Dunedin.
When Mary signed the suffrage petition she was living in Heriot Row, Dunedin with some of her children.
In 1896 Robert, who was living near their son John at Redcliff in South Canterbury, committed suicide by hanging. He is buried in the Waimate Cemetery.
Mary died at her home in Dunedin on July 6th 1905, she is buried with their daughter in the Northern Cemetery.
