Louisa Webber was born about 1841 in Exeter, Devon, England. She worked as a draper and she married James Washer, an auctioneer’s clerk, on 27 December 1874 at Hanham Church, Bristol.

They had two sons before the family emigrated to Otago as saloon passengers in 1881 on the Waikato.

They settled in Dunedin and when Louisa signed the suffrage petition were living in High St, Roslyn.

James died at his home in 1897 and Louisa died on 19 October 1919, they are buried with their son in the Northern Cemetery.
