Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Laura Welsh was born about 1873 in England – the daughter of Margaret Welsh. (See 43 Mrs Welsh)
Laura emigrated to Otago with her mother and sister (See 158 E Welsh) in 1877 on the Marlborough.
They appear to have lived for a time in Arrowtown before moving to Dunedin.
When Laura signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Grosvenor St, Kensington.
She died on 1 November 1897 from consumption and is buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
