Eliza Mary Deans was born in New Zealand in 1870 – the daughter of George Deans, a stonemason, and Mary Pollock Abbey. (See 99 Mary Deans)
She married George Henry Wieck, a seaman, in 1892 and they had 13 children, three of who died in infancy.
When Eliza signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Great King St, Dunedin near her parents.
They later moved to North East Valley.
George died in 1949 and Eliza died on 28 January 1952. They are buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
