Jane Douglas Wilson was born in 1858 in New Zealand – the daughter of James Harker Wilson, a farmer, and Ann Borrie.
When she signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Berwick, on the Taieri Plain south of Dunedin.
She married Robert Fingland Crosbie on 25 January 1894 in Dunedin and they had one son.
Robert died suddenly in 1907 while engaged in a fencing contract on the top of the Lammerlaw Range, he is buried in the Hamiltons Cemetery in the Maniototo area.
Jane died on 7 April 1910 at her mother’s home in Dunedin, she is buried in the West Taieri Cemetery.
