Charlotte Yorke was born in 1845 in Norfolk, England – the daughter of James Yorke, a carpenter, and Lydia Rodwell.
She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1872 on the “Christian McAusland” and they settled in Dunedin.
Her father committed suicide in 1881 and when Charlotte signed the suffrage petition she was living with her mother and brother in Royal Terrace.
Charlotte later lived in Oamaru then in Christchurch where she died on 15 July 1934 – she is buried in the Sydenham Cemetery.
