The Manawarū Second World War roll of honour is housed in the Manawarū hall. There are two parts: a wooden tablet inset with the photographs of four men who died in action (Private C.A. Kilfin, Flight Sergeant A.A. Ferguson, Private W. Graham and Trooper J.H. Trundle), and a wooden shield which lists the names of 54 other men who served overseas.
Memorial gates were erected at the local school in 2000. The left-hand pillar bears a plaque which reads: MANAWARU REMEMBERS / THOSE WHO SERVED / AND THOSE WHOSE LIVES / WERE LOST IN DEFENCE / OF OUR FREEDOMS / LEST WE FORGET. The right-hand pillar is dedicated to the district’s first European settlers: IN HONOURED MEMORY / THE PIONEER SETTLERS / OF / MANAWARU 1900 – 2000.
