The Lost at Sea memorial at Greenpoint Cemetery was opened by Lex Perkins, a former mayor of Bluff, in 1990. The centrepiece is a ship's anchor accompanied by a tablet inscribed: In loving memory / of all / LOST AT SEA / Out of the depths / I cry to you O Lord: / Lord hear my voice. / Psalm 130. Around the perimeter of the memorial there are now plaques commemorating a total of 20 seamen and fishermen who lost their lives in Foveaux Strait and other New Zealand waters between 1953 and 1992 (see the attached handout from Bluff Maritime Museum).
