A private audience with Her Majesty

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic meant that in 2021 incoming Governor-General Dame Cindy Kiro (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Kahu, Ngāti Hine, English) was unable to travel to Britain to meet the Queen in person before taking office. Instead, the two met by video link and Dame Cindy was invested virtually with the traditional insignia of the governor-general.
