1914-10-16: NZEF Main Body departs

The NZEF Main Body, consisting of 8454 soldiers and about 3000 horses, departs from King's Wharf, Wellington (now reclaimed port land) in 10 troopships. They arrive in Egypt on 3 December and establish a camp at Zeitoun, near Cairo. Read more
