On 24 June Peter Mwai was released from prison after serving two thirds of his seven-year prison sentence for knowingly infecting others with HIV. Mwai was the first person in New Zealand to be tried for willfully spreading the HIV virus although he was convicted of a lesser charge of recklessly causing grievous bodily harm. Read more
