Hill situated between two gullies at the head of Monash Valley. On its right were the Ottoman positions on Dead Man's Ridge, and the Chessboard, and on its left a deep canyon that seperated Pope's from Russell's Top. Named after Colonel Harold Pope, commanding officer of the Australian 16th Battalion.
