Rainbow Warrior bombing, 1985

On 10 July the Greenpeace ship, docked in Auckland, was torn apart by two bombs planted by French Secret Service agents. A Portuguese crew member, Fernando Pereira, was killed. Having been charged with murder, agents Dominique Prieur and Alain Mafart pleaded guilty to manslaughter and were sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment. Read more.
