209 Sheet 1 — The Waitangi Sheet Rawiri Rāwiri Te Rarawa Kaitāia, 28 April 1840

Rāwiri signed the Treaty of Waitangi at Kaitāia on 28 April 1840.

It has been suggested that this may be Rāwiri Tiro of Kaitāia. Rāwiri Tiro and Kepa Waha - described by the Waitangi Tribunal as 'fighting chiefs’ – were stationed by Nōpera Pana-kareao at the Kaitāia mission station to protect the missionaries.
