This is my grandfather Samuel McMahon from Saltcoats Scotland's older brother. Sam also served in the Boer wars, as a boy bugler and won several medals. His regiment was the Highland light infantry.

This is my granddad. I didn't know he had gone to the Boer War. He returned and married Isabella Taylor Dixon. Donald lost his life in the Brunner Mine in October 1914.
