Most of the South African War service records for soldiers in this database have now been digitised and are available by searching the Archives New Zealand Archway website.
George Younger was my grandfather. He moved to Australia after he failed to attend a Wellington court for sentencing on a horse stealing charge in 1903. In Australia George lived under an alias name, David McKenzie. He married Janet Emma Lee in 1921 and they had three sons and a daughter, my mother Veranda Beryl. All of the children were registered as McKenzie, and George is buried at Orange NSW under his alias as he never told his children his real name.
