I have put together sevaral pages of members of our family who gave their lives or served in WW1. Samuel Barwell his father was brother to George Barwell whose biography is in the Cyclopaedia of New Zealand. Charles father Samuel has a very readable military history that can be found by searching newspapers on the Papers Past website. It is special because Samuel tells in his own words of his war experiences in the Hottentot and Crimean wars.
