Keith Gunion GORRIE was the son of William GORRIE. As well as a farmer with his brother he also played football ( rugby) for the local club. When he was killed in action they postponed matches as a mark of respect,

WAIPA RUGBY UNION.
At a meeting of the "Waipa Rugby Union delegates were present from Paterangi, Te Awamutu, Otorohanga and Kihikihi Clubs.
The secretary reported that as yet no replies had been received from the Auckland, Piako and Waikato Rugby Unions with regard to teams visiting Te Awamutu to play Inter-union matches. The Te Awamutu Kihikihi match, which was postponed by mutual agreement out of respect to the memory of the late Trooper Keith GORRIE, who was an active member of the latter club, was fixed for Saturday next, at Kihikihi. .........
Evidently according to the Auckland Star it was also Keith Gunion GORRIE who had written a number of articles for the newspaper on NZ troop activity towards the Boer war.
