Agnes Lambert was born in 1860 in Victoria, Australia, the daughter of James Lambert and Ann Inglis.
She came to Otago with her family in 1862 on the Southern Cross, and they settled in Dunedin.
Agnes married Leonard Whittington, a bank clerk, on April 19th 1882 at her parents’ home in Kaikorai. They had three sons, one who was stillborn.
When Agnes signed the suffrage petition they were living in Russell Street.
In 1903 Leonard was appointed as manager of the Bank of New Zealand in Woodville.
He died in 1907 while visiting in Dunedin. He is buried with their son in the Northern Cemetery.
Agnes died on November 13th 1939. She is buried in the Hawera Cemetery.
