Agnes Brown Kilgour was born in New Zealand in 1866 – the daughter of Alexander Kilgour, a baker, and Euphemia Peat.
When Agnes signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Cargill St, Dunedin.
The 1893 electoral roll shows the family to be living in Frederick St, and Agnes working as a dressmaker.
She married Frederick William Beck, a carpenter, on 12 August 1896 at Leith St, Dunedin. Agnes had a daughter in 1902 but died on 22 November 1903. She is buried in the Northern Cemetery.
