Biographical information provided by Jenni Chrisstoffels, Alexander Turnbull Library, for the He Tohu exhibition:

Agnes Crawford Roulston (nee Farquhar) was born in 1866, one of seven siblings. Her parents, Robert and Agnes were farmers in Warepa, Otago.  She married Nathan Roulston in 1885 and had three daughters, Agnes Crawford (1885-1936), Eliza Erwin (1887-1968), and Josephine Irene (1889-1946). Nathan worked as a guard on the railways and the family moved around from Otago to the West Coast, Wanganui and finally to Auckland. Agnes (junior) and Josephine remained with their parents for the life of their mother, who died in 1930, aged 64. She is buried in the Papatoetoe St John Presbyterian Cemetery with her husband who died in 1941, and two daughters.
