Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Agnes Forrest Sanders was born in 1863 in New Zealand – the daughter of John Sanders and Amelia Forrest. (See 92 Amelia Davidson)
When Agnes signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family at Glenore - the 1893 electoral roll finds her living in Balclutha working as a dressmaker.
She married James Aitken on 11 March 1903 at the Milton Presbyterian Church – they had one daughter and lived at Hillend in South Otago.
In later years they retired to North East Valley, Dunedin where James died in 1920 and Agnes died on 23 September 1950.
They are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
