Agnes Frances Mayne was born on 27 June 1849 in Tasmania, Australia – the daughter of Arthur Mayne, a farmer, and Mary Brennan.
When she signed the suffrage petition Agnes was living in Heriot Row, Dunedin, working as a housekeeper.
She did not marry and she died on 31 December 1916 at Kogarah, Sydney, Australia. She is buried in the Woronora Cemetery, Sydney.
