Agnes Baird was born about 1858 in Ireland – the daughter of Hugh Baird, a farmer.
She married William Neill, a farmer, on 26 November 1879 in Ballymoney, County Antrim.
They had two children in Belfast, where John worked as a carpenter, before the family emigrated to Otago in 1884 on the Florida.
They had a further four children after their arrival and when Agnes signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Outram.
In the early 1900s the family moved to Dunedin where Agnes died on 15 May 1917 and William died in 1933, they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
