Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Agnes Leith Armstrong was born about 1862 in Australia.

She married William Comfort Packer, a basket maker, on 29 June 1880 at All Saint’s Church, Dunedin.

They had five children and when Agnes signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Forth St, Dunedin.

Agnes featured in several newspaper advertisements extolling the benefits of Laxo-Tonic Pills – she was 'perfectly cured and...it is a pleasure to be alive with health restored.'

She died on 4 June 1933 and William died the following year, they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
