Agnes Watson was born about 1860 in New Zealand – the daughter of Henry Watson and Catherine.

She married Francis Champ Stringer, a fireman, in 1879 and they had 10 children.

When Agnes signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Duntroon.

In the 1910s they moved to Herbert where Francis died in July 1946.

Agnes died shortly after on 27 August, they are buried together in the Old Oamaru Cemetery.
