She emigrated to New Zealand in 1872 on the Euterpe with her family – they stayed on Stewart Island for a short time before settling in Bluff.

Agnes married James Walker, a builder, in on New Year’s Day 1890 at Bluff.

They had five children and when Agnes signed the suffrage petition they were living in Bluff.

James died in 1934 and Agnes died on 19 December 1939, they are buried in the family grave in the Bluff Cemetery.
