Agnes Petrie was born on September 18th 1854 in Aberlour, Banffshire, Scotland – the daughter of James Petrie, a blacksmith, & Isabella Jenkins.

She emigrated to New Zealand in the mid 1870’s & she married John Watson, a carpenter, in 1876.

They had 8 children, 2 who died in infancy, & when Agnes signed the suffrage petition they were living in Castle St, Dunedin.

John died in 1928 in Dunedin & Agnes died on August 3rd 1935 in Wellington.

They were both cremated & their ashes buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery, Dunedin.
