Alice Sarah Jane Ferguson was born in 1851 in Kensington, London – the daughter of Henry James Ferguson, a newsagent, and Sophia Coward.
She emigrated to Otago in 1887 on the Kaikoura and settled in Dunedin.
Alice did not marry and when she signed the suffrage petition she was living in St Andrew Street.
She died on 2 June 1935 at her home and is buried in the Southern Cemetery.
