Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Alice Anastania was born about 1843. She married Thomas Fitzpatrick, a cabman. They came to New Zealand in the 1870s and had at least two children together.

The family lived in York Villa situated in York Place, Dunedin, where they provided accommodation for young gentlemen which included a bath and a piano.

In 1905, while the family were away from home for a few days, the house burnt down. They did not own the house but had their furniture insured for £75 and the piano insured for £25.

They then moved to Rattray St where Alice died a few years later on 22 May 1908. Thomas died in 1914. They are buried together in the Southern Cemetery.
