Alice Lowden was born in 1866 in Durham, England, the daughter of Joseph Lowden and Isabella Richardson.
She emigrated to New Zealand with her extended family in 1879 on the Taranaki, and they settled in Dunedin.
When Alice signed the suffrage petition she was living with her parents in Eglington Rd, Mornington.
Her father died in 1910, and after her mother’s death in 1920 Alice appears to have moved to Timaru where her sister was living.
She died there on December 18th 1937, and is buried in the Timaru Cemetery.
