Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Alice Taylor was born about 1827.

She was married to George Horrox Reid. They had two children in Victoria, Australia in 1857 and 1859, before coming to New Zealand in 1862. Another two children were born after their arrival.

When Alice signed the suffrage petition, she appears to be living with her son’s family in Cargill St, working as a dressmaker.

Alice died at her daughter’s house in Dunedin on 29 February 1908 (George had pre-deceased her). She is buried in the Southern Cemetery, Dunedin.
