Alison/Alice McLeod was born about 1846.

She married John Adam, a carpenter from Scotland, in Nov 1876 in Cuyahoga County, Cleveland, Ohio.

The couple moved to New Zealand in the late 1870s and they had three children, one who died in early childhood.

When Alison signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Clinton in South Otago.

In later life they moved to Mataura where Alison died on 24 September 1922 and John died in 1930, they are buried with their daughter in the Mataura Cemetery.
