Ann Maisey was born in 1846 in Alverstock, Oxfordshire, England – the daughter of Charles Maisey, a sawyer, and Esther Robins.

She emigrated to New Zealand and married Thomas Bell, an auctioneer, on 25 March 1893 in Dunedin.

They lived in Queenstown where Ann signed the suffrage petition.

In April 1909 their home was totally destroyed by fire -  Ann died shortly after, on 5 May.

Thomas died in 1914, they are buried together in the Queenstown Cemetery.
