Ann Ekins was born about 1826 in County Roscommon in Ireland.
She married John Cuttle, a farm labourer, and they had, at least, seven children.
Two of their sons emigrated to Otago in 1875 and the rest of the family followed in 1877 on the Canterbury.
They settled in Dunedin where John died in 1886.
When Ann signed the suffrage petition she was living in Main Rd, South Dunedin.
She died on 15 October 1901 and is buried with John in the Southern Cemetery.
