Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Annie Clark was born in 1859 in New Zealand – the daughter of Alexander Thomas Clark and Agnes Watson.

Annie married James Donely in 1887 – what happened to James is unclear.

When Annie signed the suffrage petition she was living in Port Molyneux with her future husband Thomas Coveney, a sawmiller.

Annie and Thomas married on 25 November 1896 in the Owaka Parish. Thomas died in 1905 – his burial place is unknown.

In 1907 Annie’s home at Long Bush was destroyed in a large bush fire which destroyed five sawmills.

She moved to Invercargill where she died on 24 November 1937 - she is buried in the Invercargill Eastern Cemetery.
