Esther Ann Jane/ Annie Boase was born about 1872 in New Zealand – the daughter of William Harvey Boase, a miner, and Elizabeth Mary Clark.
When Annie signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Greymouth.
She married George Vanderput Drury Butts, an engineer, in 1895.
They lived in Whanganui and Christchurch – they had a daughter the following year and stillborn twin sons in 1910.
George died in 1912 – he is buried in the Addington Cemetery.
Annie died on 16 February 1948 – she is buried in the Purewa Cemetery, Auckland.
