Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Annie Ferguson Russell was born in 1868 in New Zealand – the daughter of James Russell, a farmer, and Agnes Richmond. (See 55 Mrs A Russell)
When Annie was 16-years-old she gave evidence, when her mother filed a suit for a separation, that she had seen her 'father strike her mother on the head'.
Annie did not marry and when she signed the suffrage petition she was living with her mother in Dalry St, Mornington, Dunedin working as a tailoress.
She died on 26 June 1939 and is buried in the Northern Cemetery.
