Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Annie Melville Falconer was born in New Zealand about 1867 – the daughter of Charles Falconer, a farmer, and Janet Rattray.

When she signed the suffrage petition she was living with her father and siblings on the family farm 'Glenkilrie' near Milton in South Otago.

Annie married Thomas Scott, a farmer, in 1898 and they had one son.

Thomas died in 1928 and Annie died at her son’s home on 19 November 1945.

Her obituary says she 'was an ardent supporter of the Presbyterian Church, was a member of the Women’s Institute, Bruce Scottish Society, and Moneymore Red Cross Sub-centre.'

Annie and Thomas are buried in the Fairfax Cemetery, Milton.
