Ann/Annie Morrison was born on 8 March 1853 in Glenelg, Invernesshire, Scotland – the daughter of Donald Morrison, a miller, and  Mary McLeod. 

Annie married Robert Angus French, a seaman / fireman, in Scotland on 26 May 1881.

They emigrated to New Zealand and had eight children here. The family settled in Dunedin and when Annie signed the suffrage petition they were living in Russell St.

Her sister Isabella McLeod also signed the petition. (see 158 Isabella McLeod)

Robert died in on 6 February 1924  and Annie died on 3 April 1948. They are buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
