Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Ann Crawford Harvey was born in 1873 in Blueskin near Dunedin – the daughter of John Harvey and Jane Roger. (See 76 Jane Harvey)
In 1878 the family moved to a farm in the Waikaka Valley, north of Gore.
Two years later Ann’s father died – the family remained on the farm.
Ann signed the suffrage petition at Gore where, in 1911, she moved when her mother retired from farming.
She died on 27 October 1925 and is buried in the family grave in the Gore Cemetery.
Her obituary said “she was known for her hospitality and her readiness to assist others in time of sickness. Many neighbours and friends will retain the memory of her generous and her cheerful disposition”.
