Annie Jane Hagan married John R. Stevens in 1882. John was a painter and house decorator who was born in England but immigrated to New Zealand in 1874. John and Annie lived in Gore where John ran his own business. They moved to Mataura in 1901.

Annie Jane Hagen was born about 1860. 

She married John Robert Stevens, a painter and sign writer, in 1883 in New Zealand and they had six children. 

John was declared bankrupt in 1885 and when Annie signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Gore. 

They later moved to Mataura where Annie died on 22 November 1920 and John died the following year – they are buried together in the Matarua Cemetery.
