She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1860 on the Henrietta.

Ann married James Neil, a herbalist/chemist, in 1868 and they had 10 children.

When Ann signed the suffrage petition the family were living in George St, Dunedin.

She died at her home on 15 February 1909, James died in 1914 and they are buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
