Annie Beaton Allan was born on 13 September 1863 in Glasgow, Scotland – the daughter of John Allan, a woollen warehouseman, and Janet Morrison.
She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1875 on the Auckland and they settled in Dunedin.
Annie married William Tyrrell, a baker, on 30 July 1891 at her parents’ home in Maori Hill. They had one son and when Annie signed the suffrage petition they were living in Duddingstone St, North East Valley, Dunedin.
Annie died at her home on 1 August1936 and William died in 1946, they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
